In my early life, Easter was a time for chocolate. We grew up with all the standard Easter traditions – hidden easter baskets, dyed eggs, chocolate bunnies, chocolate eggs, and food, glorious food. Toasted Portuguese sweet bread slathered in butter was our breakfast and dinner influenced by our Italian heritage. I have since found my own Easter style, and when hosting, I love to create moss-covered easter centerpieces with spring flowers, dye eggs still (of course) and introduce some seasonal dishes. I love a garden cake with vegetables made of sugar, lying on dirt made by grinding up chocolate wafer cookies. The ornamental picket fence takes the cake – over the top! Ham, buttered and sauteed asparagus, snap peas, and some carrots are a beautiful accompanying vegetable, a glazed ham, and the pecan rolls – well – they gild the lily, and I say, why not!
Family and friends assembled for the Easter lunch – and I corralled them into taking these photos. I don’t have signed photo release statements for any of these – so I hope everyone likes the photos and be included in a trip down memory lane for a fun day spent with family, friends, good food to celebrate a traditional Holiday – Easter Sunday.
